State College Loans and Grants

Individual states have their own financial aid programs for students and may come in the form of loans, grants or a combination of both. The first step in applying for state or federal financial aid programs is to see if you qualify by completing the FAFSA Application. It is the free application for federal student aid. You can download and submit the application online if you choose.

This will determine your eligibility for both federal and state financial aid programs. It will not however tell you about all of the financial aid programs you qualify for. In addition to federal funding, each state has it’s own financial aid program in the form of state loans and grants.

Since the requirements and funds vary from state to state, it is a good idea to check with your State Student Aid Agency for more detailed information.
