Home Improvement Grants

Owning a home is a huge investment. Our home is where we live, play, sleep and raise our families so of course we want  it to be safe, comfortable and in good condition. It is inevitable that at some point our home is going to need some  repairs. The problem for many Americans is that they cannot afford to make these home repairs and often live in  potentially hazardous and unsafe conditions as a result. There are several programs in place that can help you pay for  all types of home repairs and/or improvement projects.

Title I Home Improvement Loans

Title I Home Improvement Loans are available through HUD approved lenders and can be used for small to large home  repairs and improvements. These loans can also be used in conjunction with 203 (k) loans.

203 (k) Rehabilitation Program

This is the main HUD program for home repair assistance to single family dwellings. The funds available from this  program can also be used to expand single family dwellings. The 203 (k) rehabilitation loan can be used with other  programs to finance home rehabilitation and repair projects.

HOME Community Programs

Home Community Programs are part of the largest federal block grant in the United States. HOME provides over $2 billion dollars annually to state and local governments to cover a vast array of housing needs for low income families.

Local Home Repairs and Home Improvement

Home repair and improvement grants and aid are available through most city and county governments and also  through many local organizations.

Property Insurance for Home Improvement

HUD provides insurance to lenders on most home improvement loans. This allows consumers to obtain a more  affordable loan for home improvements and repairs.

Rural Home & Property Repair Program

Individuals and Families living in rural areas can apply for a home property repair loan at a 1% interest rate made  available through the Rural Development and Housing Agency.

VA Specially Adapted Housing for Veterans

The VA offers grant programs for veterans with service and non-service related disabilities who need to make alterations and adaptions to their homes.

You can also fill out the Eligibility Form to verify if you are eligible for  mortgage insurance programs, homeowner grants or any other type of government financial assistance for your home.
