The Self-Help Home Ownership Opportunity Program or (SHOP) is funded by HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban evelopment). The purpose of the program is to provide funding to non-profit organizations and affiliations for the purchase of home sites to develop or improve infrastructure for volunteer and sweat equity home ownership projects for low-income individuals and families.
